“Glory of Chinese Ships: A Special Exhibition Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of China Merchants Group”, co-organized by China Maritime Museum and China Merchants Group, was opened in China Maritime Museum on Dec. 28th. Based on the history of China Merchants Group, the exhibition is divided into four parts: a Trailblazer of Shipping Economy, Twice-born China Merchants, a Pioneer of Reform and Opening-up, Glory Continues. It makes the audience better understand the deep historical connection between China Merchants Group and Shanghai, so as to make Chinese nautical culture go better to the world.
China Maritime Museum launched “Brilliance of Bottles: Special Exhibition of Snuff Bottles in Qing Dynasty” on Dec. 30th. With the start of the new routes and maritime trade, snuff and snuff bottles were introduced to China in the 17th century. The production of snuff bottles went through a process from import and imitation to innovation. Based on the development of snuff bottles, their craftsmanship and classification, and their relationship with daily life in the Qing Dynasty, the exhibition is divided into five sections: Introduction, Integration of the East and West, Exquisite Craftsmanship, Style of the Era and Epilogue. It depicts the cultural exchange between Europe and China in Qing Dynasty.
