On July 8th, in order to carry forward China’s culture of rites and keep forging ahead, China Maritime Museum and Baoji Bronze Ware Museum jointly launched “The World Goes the Right Way: Exhibition on the Rites of Zhou” in Shanghai, under the guidance of Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission and Baoji Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau. Eight museums in Baoji also participated in the exhibition. The exhibition lasts till Oct. 8th.
The exhibition is divided into six parts, “A State of Zhou Rites, Worship of Deities for Blessings, A True Craft of War, Rites Osmosis into Secular Life, Rites in All Respects, and Supersession and Inheritance” and exhibited 142 pieces of “national treasure” excavated from Baoji, the hometown of bronze ware. From archaeological excavations, namely, Shigushan Cemetery, cellar in Yangjia Village Mei County, cellar in Zhuangbai village, Yu State Cemetery, etc., the exhibition led the audience into the 3000-year-old rites of Zhou Dynasty by tracing the root of rites and music culture, which are still in use every day in the modern society unknowingly and inheriting the far-reaching Chinese rites and music culture.
During the exhibition, China Maritime Museum held a series of social activities for the public, such as ritual dance performance, coming-of-age ceremony, etc.
