In order to promote academic cooperation and build an academic exchange platform, the seminar on “China and the World Connected by Silk Road” was held in China Maritime Museum on September 18, 2021. The seminar was jointly organized by China Maritime Museum, Shanghai International Studies University and the Navigational History and Cultural Research Professional Committee of Chinese Navigation Society.
Nearly 80 experts and scholars in museums, universities and scientific research institutions from across China participated in the seminar online and offline, discussing the culture, history and heritage of the Silk Road. Mr. Zhang Dongsu, the Party Secretary of China Maritime Museum, attended the seminar and addressed at the opening ceremony.
The seminar developed the study of Silk Road research, reflecting the academic enthusiasm of Silk Road scholars for interdisciplinary and cross-field dialogue, and demonstrating that cultural institutions and scientific research institutions actively integrate into the national strategy and serve the “Belt and Road Initiative” .
