China Maritime Museum launched “Brilliance of Bottles: Special Exhibition of Snuff Bottles in Qing Dynasty” on Dec. 30th,2023.

With the start of the new routes and maritime trade, snuff and snuff bottles were introduced to China in the 17th century. The production of snuff bottles went through a process from import and imitation to innovation. Based on the development of snuff bottles, their craftsmanship and classification, and their relationship with daily life in the Qing Dynasty, the exhibition is divided into five sections: Introduction, Integration of the East and West, Exquisite Craftsmanship, Style of the Era and Epilogue. It depicts the cultural exchange between Europe and China in Qing Dynasty.
