To serve the Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Planning and Construction of New Towns in the 14th five-year plan of Shanghai proposed by Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and meet the identification and consultation demand of private collectors, China Maritime Museum launched the first public beneficial cultural relics identification activities on June 15th, 2021, under the approval of Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture Heritage. With the support of Shanghai Collection Association, the activity was intended to take effective measures and solve problems for the people by providing public beneficial cultural relics’ identification and consultation service for residents and collectors in Lingang Special Area.
On June 15th, experts received 18 consultation applicants and identified approximately 100 private collections, which greatly satisfy the consultation demand of the public and strengthen people's awareness of collecting cultural relics according to law.
In order to popularize knowledge of collection and build a platform for private collectors, China Maritime Museum will regularly provide cultural relics identification and consultation service on the 15th day of each month (when National holidays and weekends come, the service will delay to the next Wednesday).
