From Azure Dragon Port in Tang Dynasty, Huating County in Song Dynasty, Songjiang Prefecture in Yuan Dynasty, to five-port trade in 19th century, the shipping history and culture of Shanghai Port has a long history.

After reform and opening up ,driven by economic globalization, in the face of major changes in the world economic structure, major changes in the structure of the shipping industry, regional port fierce competition, Speeding up the construction of Shanghai international ,shipping center has become an inevitable choice for our country to adhere to the reform and opening up and to build a powerful socialist modernization.

In January 1996, the State Council held a special conference on the construction of an international shipping center in Shanghai, at which it was decided to accelerate the construction of an international shipping center in Shanghai with Shanghais as the center and Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces as the wings. Over the past 20 years, the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center has made great contributions to strengthening the synergy with other procinces and cities in the Yangtze River Delta and jointly promoting the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the construction of the service “Belt and Road”.

On the occasion of the “China Navigation Day”main venue held in Shanghai, I would like to pay tribute to the people who have made contributions to the construction of an international shipping center in Shanghai.
